I hate the idea of for every year a players age is rolled back, they drop 1 OV as basically the longer they have been in the league the harder they fall.
Keeping the same two examples:
Boone Jenner becomes OV78, age 23, $6mil FROM OV84, age 29, $6mil
Ryan MacInnis becomes OV77, age 20, $2mil FROM OV80, age 23, $2mil
That's completely out of whack... Jenner who I've spent so much time and effort into developing and making my marquee player is no longer the best guy on my team in terms of value. Let alone his contract would now stink!
I suggest for the following:
Age reduced 1-2 years drop in 1OV
Age reduced 3-4 years drop in 2OV
Age reduced 5+ years drop in 3OV
That way, the above would be:
Boone Jenner becomes OV81, age 23, $6mil FROM OV84, age 29, $6mil
Ryan MacInnis becomes OV78, age 20, $2mil FROM OV80, age 23, $2mil
Jenner then stays as my marquee player! Contracts still would seem a little iffy!
Also rolling back ages means some guys will become RFA's that were once UFA's - that kinda isn't right!
