Eastside/Franchise Hockey Manager

I haven't used Eastside Hockey Manager in ages, but I was wondering if anyone has participated in any sim leagues using it and whether or not it is a good idea to use that as a sim. The reason I ask is maybe if it were possible to incorporate the NHL style standings with three divisions within a conference (and/or wild card spots), it would be a pretty cool feature to have over the outdated FHL sim. Apparently there is another sim that is similar to Eastside called Franchise Hockey Manager as well.

Of course this transition would probably require a lot of work, but I'd be willing to lend a hand in it if it is a realistic possibility. What do you guys think of the sim? Too over complicated?

BTW, I tried posting this in the Off-Topic forum but it kept redirected me to a "page unavailable" error.

I believe you can even save logs of games and people who have the software can also watch a game after. (at least that's how the previous version was)

I had tried a version of this maybe a year or so ago and remember getting frustrated with how deep things were hidden in menus. It's very in depth but everything was on a different screen in a different menu. I have no idea how lines would be handled, etc. Submitting lineups and such.

The original Eastside was the best. I still have it installed and occasionally get the whim to play through some seasons. There have been several leagues with that sim and I believe there are still some around to this day. Its a bit more in depth and complicated - definitely need dedicated and patient GMs.

I dabbled with the second version the "NHL" eastside hockey manager and didnt care for it all that much. Found it alot more difficult to manage your team etc.

I have not tried OOTP's fantasy hockey manager yet. I've read some reviews and they are so-so.

I'd definitely be a guinea pig if anyone wanted to try and set one up.

Loved the old EHM. Still have it installed. Didn't ever purchase NHL:EHM. I am sorely tempted to purchase this new alpha version.

Heard of it, but never used it. I'm too attached to FHL.

I wouldnt really compare them together when it comes to running an online league.

Although EHM can be used for an online league - its really more for single player. Think of EA NHL GM mode except even more control over your franchise.

FHL on the other hand is built specifically for online leagues. Its pretty basic and easy to use.. but I doubt many people are going to sim through seasons on their own, unless they are just doing some tests.

I can't believe the FHL didn't even incorporate the god damn shootout system in it considering the last update was in 2005.

Same, but I've never been able to get playoffs to work in it.
